Emeraude Toubia

Born on March 1, 1989, in Quebec, Canada, she was raised in Brownsville, Texas. Emeraude Toubia is of Mexican and Lebanese descent. As a child, Emeraude was professionally trained in classical ballet, flamenco, belly dance, and lyrical dance. She also participated in several beauty pageants and was crowned Miss South Texas, Miss Rio Grande Valley America, and Miss Teen Brownsville.

Emeraude debut on television occurred at the age of ten, on Televisa’s children’s program El Mundo de los Niños. She became known after participating in Univision’s beauty pageant series Nuestra Belleza Latina, which landed her advertising jobs as a model for brands such as Maybelline, J. C. Penney, Sony, Garnier, and AT&T. Her first acting job was in Nickelodeon Latin America’s youth telenovela 11-11: En mi Cuadra Nada Cuadra (2013) as “Elizabeth”. Since then, Emeraude appeared as “Dulce Rincón” on Venevisión’s telenovela Cosita Linda (2014) and as “Stephanie Karam” on the Univision-Venevisión telenovela Voltea Pa’ que te Enamores (2015). Emeraude was announced to play “Isabelle (Izzy) Lightwood” in Freeform’s Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments in 2015.

Currently, Emeraude is still playing Izzy Lightwood in Shadowhunters. She also supports a number of non-profit organizations, including Toys for Tots and Make a Wish Foundation. Emeraude leads the “Queen for a Day” program at her hometown’s children’s hospital.

Emeraude received a nomination for 2017’s Teen Choice Awards as Choice TV: Sci-Fi/Fantasy Actress for Shadowhunters.
